When the "new" Central School was built in 1905, the frame structure of the old Central was moved to 14th & Union and became Columbus' only school for black children.

Hi David,

I was just wondering where this information came from. I remember the old black school, the building was on my paper route back in the mid 1940's and no longer used, but it was a small building as I remember. Anyone else have any input on this building?.

This is exactly what my historical marker will look like at the Orinoco site...........when we finally get all the details worked out for specific placement. The city engineer has agreed to o.k. placement on city right-of-way IF the sign post is of a break-away design specified by the State Highway. Contact from my source in Indy yesterday states that info has been requested by them from INDOT about this type of sign post.

Another snag is that I will have ANOTHER new person to deal with up in Indy, as they have another new "marker coordinator". UGH!!
