Sorry I missed the meeting last night, but I understand there was some good conversation about various things.
First off, let me say what I know about people "signing in" at our last event in July. At different times during the day I would walk around and notice that there were people we had not seen on our side of the shelterhouse. I was also told by various members who were on the other side of the house that a lot of people walked in, looked around at different displays and left by the same opening they had come through. I would venture a guess that we did not get 1/3 of the people to "sign in" who came to see the historic displays.
Regarding the "set up", I won't say one way or another if I thought it was a "good arrangement", that is not my expertise so I wouldn't think to step on anyone's toes and say it was not good or was good. I think we did the best we could for all the different memorabilia we had to show. Initially I was concerned we would not get all of the three large items in to the house, but it worked out just fine.
Hope some good back and forth came out last night and plans for the next event were discussed and tossed from one to another.
Thanks to Richard for letting those of us who didn't make the meeting know just who all attended and sort of filling us in on some of the conversation. Bet you all had a great time looking at Jim's new acquisitions, didn't you?
Babs, we missed you last night. It was a good meeting. It was fun seeing all the new old stuff that Jim picked up.
Regarding the layout, for all the things we had on display, particularly the size of the fire truck and Fehring carriage, it worked out pretty well. I was concerned that some tables may have been hidden, but that's all depending upon how you entered the Shelter house. But I think things flowed as well as possible considering all the great things we had on display.
I know there were A LOT more people that showed up that didn't sign the book.
I haven't gotten around to posting the pictures I took, but hopefully will do so soon.
Sorry, I missed this meeting, also, due to health issues.. My two cents worth.... I am fairly certain we had way more people there, than signed our book. Once again, this Volunteer Committee did an outstanding job of planning, setting up, welcoming guests, and the inevitable job of tearing down afterward.
I really thought we had a good turnout, with a continual flow of people what little time I was there. Thanks to ALL for another outstanding effort on spreading the word about the fascinating History of " Our Town"
