I noticed that RER posted some historical information regarding life in Bartholomew County in the 1800's in the Miscellaneous Thread.
I created a new Board entitled Life In Columbus Indiana In The 1800's, and copied the info into this new Topic.
You can find this new Board under the Life In Columbus Indiana Throughout The Decades Category on the Message Board welcome page.
Also, RER had posted information regarding Hawcreek Leather Company and the Morgan Packing & Canning Company in the Misc Thread. These have also been moved into appropriate entitled Theads in the Industry section of the message board.

While the Cat's away the mice will play !!! May I second the greeting from Babs ? We are so relieved to know you are feeling much much better !!
I really enjoyed reading the articles about Charlie Ostick..quite a gentleman !! I would ask you to keep Charlie and his wife Jessica in your prayers while they are dealing with his ongoing health issues. One of the mice...Margo

I don't know if anyone ever bothers to read the "News" on the Message Board Welcome Page. I have been known to post announcements there from time to time.
I thought it might be fun to list the "Number One Songs For The Week Of" here. I can cover all the weekly Top 40 Number One Songs from 1955 through 1969.
While listing the songs, I thought it would be fun to also list "What We Watched On TV" too. I think I have enough local TV Guides to be able to supply every day of the year here as well.
So, if you're ever curious what the number one song was, or what you might have watched on a particular day in the 50's or 60's, you might want to spend a few minutes reading the "News" on the Welcome Page!
Maybe one of these days I'll get a real life...

After reading Margie's post today on the Postcards board, it got me to thinking about natural and man-made disasters that the people of Columbus have been witness to.
I created a new Board entitled Columbus Disasters for you to leave your memories of such occurences.

Thanks, David, for the recognition, as Babs said. And I guess we know now, publicly, who the 'wordy' ones are!!!!! ;D But better than that, we are all glad, David, that you are back on the boards. That is good!!!!! To all, I so encourage you to join the boards as a member, it is a simple, free procedure, and add in your thoughts and memories. We are all so 'exploring' our Columbus roots, and when many 'brains' get together, we do solve many puzzles along the way. And I have to add, I have made such wonderful new friends with Columbus roots via these boards. Another plus!!!!! Attending the July Historic Columbus celebration was such a special moment in time for me. I had the time of my life, meeting up with old friends, and meeting new friends. What a week! In our own way, we are contributing members to writing Columbus history for future generations. Additionally, we make valid attempts to unravel history questions in regards to long ago Columbus. Do join the fun, one and all. Nanc

Hey Bob, as I sit here rolling on the floor laughing and hardly able to reach the keyboard from the floor--------my sense of humor from So. CA, says that FIVE STARS, should perhaps be---------Words of Wisdom from the Wisest.
Rockin' off now to the morning chores, 'surf's up.'

Oh Nanc, That is "priceless"!! Words of Wisdom from the Wisest! Really cute and so early in the morning from the West coast too! I do, however, agree with you completely! Also rolling on the floor laughing at all the chatter over this! ;-)
Also as Bob said...."ya all have a wonderful day...ya hear". Since we lived in Florida for over 25 years I can still speak the Southern way too. :-)

It was, more or less, redundant, to have sub-boards for the Schools: A Look Back At School Buildings Of Our Past board, so I deleted those sub-boards, and moved all of the threads to the same School board.
These school threads will no longer be in alphabetical order, and the latest post will move whatever thread you post it in to the top.
Nuff said! (I hope!)

Yes, Bob, I did notice the addition of "words" underneath our names! (And I love it! :-) First one I happened to see was yours and the question came to my mind "I wonder how Bob did that?" Then, as I read more I realized it was on all of our names.
Really cute David! You are full of little surprises and we all love it.

Dave Why do you wish to re-do it and what do you plan to change ? This would help focus our suggestions. Could we discuss this Tues nite at the meeting ? OK guys what's going on ? I used to be able to see the pictures as they were posted. I had to wait a while for them to download as I have dialup. Now all of a sudden I am getting this....... [image] ??
Can anybody help this technically challenged Senior who does good just to turn this machine on ??

Hello to All:
Since there was some great discussions regarding schools in general in The Present: Columbus Indiana Today Thread, I moved those Postings to a new Thread called School Talk In General, which is in the Schools We Attended Category.
Hope this doesn't confuse anyone!

WOW !! I love the new letterhead / logo!! Someone has worked very hard ! It's very eyecatching and the postcards pictures just compliment it greatly.
In " Hoosier" Vernacular "Ya' done good !!" [/b][/color]
With much grateful appreciation for your creativity and hard work... Grandma Margo
