Goodmorning, I am looking for a contact or a source of where I can find the following information I obtained from Bonnie Kenny regarding some books that are suppose to be in Columbus. If you can help it would be very much appreciated. Here is the information I received: Have you seen the book, "The History of Columbus, Indiana"? Wm.Henderson's grandfather (Francis L. Whittington) settled there and owned a farm. The author interviewed him on his back porch. In addition to being a farmer, he served as the local sheriff when he was in his 50's and was known to have jailed his own sons when they were misbehaving. He donated land for the first public schoolhouse in the area. The book includes a map showing the lands owned by the Whittingtons in the early 1800's. I cannot confirm it,but I think they may have come to Indiana from Kentucky. There is also a book about the history of the Whittington family in Columbus, Indiana that was compiled and contributed to the Columbus library by one of Wm. Henderson's relatives - a decendent of his uncle,Benjamin(?) I think....I haven't seen the book. Thanks Much For Your Help! Keith Whittington
