We called Garrison's "The Fruit Market." It's address in the 1966 City Directory is 2041 State Street. I've been searching for a picture of the Fruit Market for several years now, and just might be able to come up with a picture of the place sometime this year. Jack(?) Garrison is still alive. He spends the winter months in Florida and returns to Columbus once it warms up. An old grade school friend of mine worked at the Fruit Market during high school. He thinks he can come up with a picture of the place for the website.
At least once a week, Mr. Garrison travelled to Louisville to buy produce for the Fruit Market. I'm sure most East Columbus residents will remember all the bushel baskets filled with fruits and vegetables that sat out front on bench-type shelving. the inside was very small. As kids, we sold our pop bottles here.
