I offered to do a little City Cemetery tour as a way to contribute to the Columbus History Celebration. Donner Park is such a historical part of Columbus and the cemetery dates back to the original founding of Columbus. Since I do Visitors Center tours around town, it just seemed like a good way that I could contribute. It was very, very HOT that day and a lot of folks who wanted to go couldn't. I had a number of folks ask me if I would do it again and I would be more than happy to! Its kind of a "work in progress" as I discover more as I go along or someone points something out to me. I would be more than happy to repeat it whenever...late afternoons, in the evenings or Saturday morning. Just let me know and we can work out a time. It will take at least an hour and requires quite a bit of walking off the paved walkways. You can email me: ricky@iquest.net or just call.
When I get time I'm going to post my notes and trivia and some gravesite pictures here. I'm really not a cemetery buff (my wife and both plan to be cremated!) but as I strolled thru this cemetery a few times and kept discovering names that I knew were a big part of Columbus history I just decided to adopt it!
