I know there are alot of you out there that read the Message Board and don't participate, but please make an exception in this case.
The Historic Columbus Indiana Committee is trying to come up with an ideal place where to hold our 3rd Annual Columbus Historic Celebration next year.
The Commons this past year was such an ideal place, it's such a shame that we won't be able to use it next year.
We are trying to come up with some place in town.
Other than Donner Park, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much!

What about Fair Oaks Mall? They have car shows in there, Taste of Chocolate in there..........why not history?

The last time our group wished to have something in the mall they requested we have liability insurance.
Possibly this would not be an issue through the Historical Society ? However, to have speakers or a program it might be difficult to set up any type of seating arrangements. I've never seen a large amount of them at the mall, and how would we contain the noise ?.

Hadn't considered speakers. I was just trying to think of a large location.
What about the two, new, connecting gyms at the new middle school?

As the search goes on for a location for our next event, I wonder if the Crump would work?, the lobby is large and there would be out side space under cover with the wide side walk. There would be a stage for the speakers and entertainment, and maybe even show some old movie clips, " heck ", maybe even sell some popcorn!!!!!, it's for sure we could not have a more historical site.

I have been in the new gym at Central, and it is one of the places that I have recommended finding out about. I guess I should just DO that!
Does anyone know Pete King (local attorney)? I understand that he is the owner of the Reeves building. Thought maybe the old space that was formerly the antique mall might work for our celebration.

Are we still having a meeting on Monday (10 Sept)? We had pretty much decided on the Donner Center as of the last meeting and David was planning to book it but we never heard anymore about it.

WOW!!! Did we ever have a wonderful time last night at the Rondot home in Timbergate. If you missed the "holiday meeting" (our first ever I might add) then you really missed a treat.
Thanks to John and his lovely wife Marilyn for hosting us and for all the yummy snacks, etc.
We didn't actually set a date for our next meeting, this was strictly a "social" gathering and we had a blast chatting with each other, catching up on happenings in each others lives and just enjoying our time together. Watch for a notice sometime after the first of the year for our next meeting. (I won't be here so "someone" take note and be sure and post the time, date, place, etc.)
Merry Christmas to one and all and again kudos to the Rondot's for inviting us into their beautifully decorated home in Timbergate. It was a very special evening and enjoyed by one and all.

Dear friends. I haven't made much of a contribution to this site, but I am interested. We moved back to Columbus in December just in time to be told I need open heart surgery. I had it and the Lord blessed with wonderful healing. My question is about the next reunion. Has a place been decided on yet? If not have you considered Bakalar Air base, or Columbus Mun. Airport? Perhaps a hanger could be rented or donated for the cause. Several things to see there as well as being close to town. Have a great day. Bob Lane

David’s Doctor is in the process of changing his drugs and isn’t having any success. David is experiencing a lot of pain at the present time. Hopefully the Doctors will have some success soon. If your e-mail address on this board is current, I’ll make sure you are informed about the next meeting. Richard
