enjoy reading the message board.Keep up the good work on keeping it clean. Was on yesterday and read somethings on several locations on here by somebody by the sign in as wydy.was this a joke? Hello guests. I’m not sure the posts by wydy were jokes. All six posts were posted within minutes, which must have been placed by a program that searches for message boards. The text which wydy placed was full of links to web sites. I did a search of the ISP, Internet Service Provider, and they have several ISP’s shown. One item told that they now have service in Hong Kong! All of these links were wanting to buy gold. A few weeks ago someone was listing links to Escort Services! This board is not for links to unknown Web Sites. The text was well written and I therefor suspected it was copied from another site. The moderators try to remove these type posts as soon as they can.

Nanc here, and I just have to 'reflect' on this inquiry. First of all, someone, in the case of the Historic Columbus Message Boards, David Sechrest, has to have 'the vision.' I am not/was not involved in all the effort to get it started. Altho' I do know that over time David has revised the format to accommodate the number/subjects that have 'developed' over time. Additionally, there is a great deal of volunteer 'behind the scene' work to just do the regular 'maintenance' of the boards. THEN, comes the fun part---------------there needs to be a 'volunteer readership,' that is willing to share their memories from 'back in the day,' as well as share from their personal archives, plus do additional research locally and on the internet to do verification of some items. What one sees here, on these message boards, is what has developed over likely five years or more. The combined efforts of many folks--------------------that is what makes it so much fun, I guess, to know that you have, at your fingertips, the ability to preserve history and explore, via the posts, what others tell. I have never 'searched,' but suspect that this site is likely the only one of its kind in the US of A....................and we are all a part! My CA native adult daughters love this board, as they get an insight to all the stories their grandparents and I have discussed 'about Growing Up in Columbus.' One of my favorite quotes that I always shared with my elementary students------------ If you never have a dream, you never have a dream come true. Think these message boards are a supreme example of 'a dream come true.' Nanc I know this is wrond to place this ?but will try anyway.Whta I wpold like to ask is.How would a person go about doing a historical board in another town, state where they live.It would be really neat to read something about where your hubby or wife lived when they were growing up.Could somebody give any info how to do this. tks

Declaration of Independence of America Enjoy this special holiday, but let us not forget what it is all about while grilling, swimming, boating, beaching, attending a parade, shooting fireworks, or just general relaxing and doing fun things. A very compressed overview of American Independence from England is summarized here: www.bookrags.com/eb/independence-day-eb/

[/size] Hello happy one! No need to apologize for anything and welcome to the board!
I'm not sure I can answer your question, but I remember going to Riverside Amusement Park when I was a kid. I think it closed up sometime in the 1980's. Sorry--I don't know what's there now.

My research finds that Riverside Park (the amusement park business) was closed in 1970.It was turned into a city park and I believe now is a housing development. I too was there in the 60s,and as far as I was concerned at the time,it was Disney World.

I remember going there in the summer of 1966. I don't know how many times they played Mother's Little Helper, by the Rolling Stones that day, but when I hear that song today, it reminds me of being at Riverside Amusement Park. It was also my first encounter with a roller coaster.
What a great place it was.
