Hi, I keep hitting this reference to the woman I'm researching: "The Herman Mudgett Murder... One, the last of his wives, was a young woman named Georgiana Yoke, a Franklin girl, who had cut quite a swath when she taught school in Columbus township in 1890. She, however, got out of his clutches, with a whole skin, even though Columbus got the publicity after his arrest." « Last Edit: May 13, 2006, 5:38pm by David Sechrest » Please, does anyone have any documentation about her? I'm going to Franklin soon and would love to know if there is more to find in Columbus. Thanks!

Okay, and just being curious----------it appears that in red, in the quote above-----------comes from the book, I Discover Columbus by William E. Marsh. I found this information on p. 91. Seems to me, that going back into the newspaper archives you might find something, as he mentions that 'Columbus got the publicity after his arrest.' Also, Mr. Marsh mentions that Herman Mudgett used an alias, H. H. Holmes, perhaps another way to research. My thinking says that Mr. Marsh had to gather this information from documents of some sort--------------where, I surely don't know, since I love to do research when I am in Columbus, gosh, I would head to the public library. AND Columbus is a neat place to visit---------just for a trip to the newly remodeled Zaharakos/The Greeks, would be enough for me to drive from Franklin to check it all out. Nanc

Holmes on the internet-----------a lot of different ways, and came up with this reference to Geogiana Yoke, in far more detail than other references, scrolling down about 3/4 of the way. In any event, an interesting read. members.tripod.com/ol_dirty_paul69/theabyssofthemind/id10.htmlNanc
