"Columbus Indiana Typical Sunset Across The Farmland" Back Home Again In Indiana Song[/b] ChorusBack home again in Indiana, And it seems that I can see The gleaming candlelight, still burning bright, Through the sycamores for me. The new-mown hay sends all its fragrance Through the fields I used to roam. When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash, How I long for my Indiana home. Bob

Thanks Bob for posting this site! The pictures are wonderful. Just wish she had taken them in October so the leaves on the trees would have been prettier. I know the lady who is the webmaster for this site... Marilyn Brackney. She specializies in all types of art projects for children using all recycled products. A very creative mind and you will usually see her at the Commons Mall during the Enviromental programs especially in April. I have sent this web site on to various CHS Class members out of state as I know they will enjoy it also. Blessings from Margo

One of the most beautiful courthouses in Indiana. In fact it was the "covergirl" in a book about the 52 county couthouses a few years ago. Bartholomew County has done a good job of maintaining the building and in the last remodels they reversed some if the ill-advised internal "improvements" that had been made. Within the last month, I posted a link to Marilyn Brackney's Kit At Art website on the Historic Columbus Indiana website. You can find it in the links section.

I no longer take The Republic, so I'm hoping that some of you that do can help me out here.
In a way, I'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned the 2 new hotels Columbus will be home to.
The Downtown redevelopment project is really taking off.
Just this past week, it was announced that a new hotel would be built at the Commons Mall. This hotel will also incorporate a parking garage, so I guess Columbus has hit two birds with one stone here.
Work on the Commons hotel is scheduled to begin early next year, with hopes of completion by the beginning of 2008 (that sounds like a pretty fast track to me).
Those current shop owners will have to be relocated until the work is finalized. I heard that the Renfro's are looking to relocate such places as Viewpoint and the jewelrey store in the downtown area until the work is completed.
Someone told me this hotel is going to be 5 or 6 stories tall! That sounds awful high for Columbus.
One of the aspects of this project that I find interesting is that Jackson Street will be opened up (again) from 4th to 3rd Streets.
I guess Sears will sit by itself, but I would think there would be some sort of overhead walkway that connects Sears with the Mall and hotel.
Could someone please correct my "misinformation" here?
Thank You...

Why Has Downtown Columbus Become More Beautiful ?I thought about this since our visit in July of this year and finally determined another reason the landscape downtown Washington main shopping area is more beautiful. I looked at pictures of the present and past and said to myself, well there is something different besides the buildings being upgraded and sidewalks and streets. The answer finally popped in my head this morning. Roll the drums here..................it is the disappearance of the ugly "Parking Meters." Tah Dah !!........... Yes that ugly pest that caused some tickets at times and distorted the beauty of the walks and streets at a glance. To prove the point look at this picture with the ugly meters and then think of today's views. (This is one of David's pictures he posted) The meters were not attractive at all. Congratulations Columbus someone had design in mind. Bob

"Sculpture of Human Torso Or Is It Tooth Decay ?" COMMENT:Located in front of the Cleo Rogers Memorial Library, Henry Moore, then 77 years old, created this great piece in 1971 using the concept of "primitive simplicity." Although Moore intended it to resemble a human torso, locals have given it a nickname like Tooth Decay! Bob
