The Columbus Indiana Decade Boards are set up so that you may share your memories of what life was like in Columbus back then. The boards are more or less of a recollection of many different things, i.e., if I wanted to write about growing up in Columbus in the 1960's, I'd share my memories in the 1960's board. Where I grew up, the friends I played with, where we played, the places we went, and such should be recorded here.
If I wanted to write specifically about what G. C. Murphy's was like in the 1960's, I'd put that in the Murphy's folder.
I hope this may explain how these "decade" boards relate to others.
I know some of you have said that you're not sure where to place a post. The only advice I may be able to share with you is this:
1) write your post using a word processor program such as WinWord or a text file;
2) once you have finished, read through it and grasp what the main idea is. If it is of a general nature, and covers a particular time period and what your life was like back then, then I would post it in the folder that corresponds within the decades category. If your writing is more about a particular business, industry, or person, then it should be posted in whatever board that best fits it.
So, if I haven't further confused everyone here, let the postings commence!

Hi David, My deceased mother grew up in Columbus. Her father was a newspaperman and then join Noblitt-Sparks, and retired as an executive of Arvin. I was getting ready to dispose of my mom's 1939 Log when I came upon this site. Of course I'd love it if it were put to some practical use or become part of an archive somewhere. Do you have any ideas?

I KNOW THIS WAS DIRECTED TO DAVE BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD STATE MY OPINION
MY MOTHERS YEARBOOKS WERE GIVEN TO THE BARTH CO HISTORICAL SOC
RICHARD BORROWED THE 1935 LOG TO SCAN THE PICTURES I THINK THAT WOULD BE A REASONABLE CHOICE
YOU CAN TELL THEM WHOSE THEY WERE AND ITS A GOOD WAY TO PRESERVE THEM IF YOU CHOSE NOT TO KEEP THEM OF COURSE

[/size] Hello meliss. Welcome to the Boards! Sorry it has taken me some time to post an answer to your question.
A friend of mine loaned me his mom's 1939 yearbook and I've scanned it, and it's awaiting further manipulation before being added to the website.
I might suggest you contact the Historical Society or the Library. I would think the Library would be interested in having a copy. Also, I know Columbus North has quite a collection of logs, but I'm uncertain if they have a complete collection. That might be another possibility.
Whichever one of the three you may decide to leave it to, I'm most certain it would be in good hands...
