I worked in Carpenter's at 5th & Washington my sophomore through senior years. '55-'57.I remember Mr. Carpenter as a white haired gentleman. His Son-in-law took over the store and I also babysat for his family. This is where I learned about how to properly apply makeup and be wary of the men who came in on Saturday night to buy Hair Tonic. I was told they drank it. I later moved to their branch store farther north on Washington Street. This was a pharmacy only with just a few other products.

This was taken when Clifty was a one room school. I think I learned more in this school because I listened to the 8th grade studies. I graduated with most of these in the 7th grade in 1957. I attended many schools starting with Garfield, Lincoln, Booth-Setser (two rooms), Clifty, Wilson and Central High. Our class was the first to graduate from the new Columbus North. Attachments:

Hello Guys of Class of 57! Guess the gals are too timid to post, but here I am, I was the grey haired girl that some called Mouse. Happened upon this site and OMG what great memories it has brought back. I remember Bob and Dave. I left Columbus right after high school to go to nurses training in Indy. Met my hubby from IU and eventually stage-coached to Fort Wayne. Anyway I have a lot of school memories as well as downtown and I don't know where to post them all, but will give it a try real soon. You can call me Sandy.
