The date of this picture of the East Columbus School Faculty is unknown. I’m sure I see Mrs. Jessie Robinson in the back row. Mrs. Burch appears very young in this picture. *NOTE: Since posting this picture, I’ve received information from Mrs. Robinson’s daughter that Mrs. Robinson taught at East Columbus from 1946 to 1949. Top Row: Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Mrs. Jessie Robinson, Unknown, Miss. Hazel Fodrea, Unknown, Mr. Ernest Freese. Middle Row: Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, May be Miss. Katheryn Cain, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown. Bottom Row: Mr. Howard Henderson, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Mrs. Charlotte Burch, Mrs. Mabel Taylor. Scan Courtesy of Member Babs

Reference post #60....In the back row of this picture, standing next to my dad is Miss Goldie Reed. The next lady you have identified as Hazel Fodera but at this time she would not have been teaching at E.Columbus. This has to be someone else. Miss Hazel didn't go out there till later on. Also on the front row next to Howard Henderson is Mrs. Marie Carmichael.
I am dating this picture in the late 40's as Mrs. Carmichael was my teacher at the barracks and I remember her wearing this particular outfit, with the plaid skirt.
The teacher you said "maybe Miss Cain"...is definitely Katherine Cain

Reference post 62. Sorry I don't know any of the teachers in the top row, but in the next row 2nd from the right is Mr. Harry Breeden, in the third row, from left, the first lady is Mrs. Vornholt, next unknown, then Mr. Ernest Freese and Mr. Howard Henderson is the second from the right. I believe the last two men on the front row might be janitors. (Previously I had posted I thought that one man just before the janitors was Mr. Timbrook, but looking at a recent addition to this site, it seems this individual is Mr. Ben Walker.)

More State Street School Pictures! The following State Street pictures are made possible because of Babs and I can't thank her enough. I hope that some of you had the opportunity to pick up some of the SS pictures at the Historic Columbus Day Celebration last month ( no, I didn't take them all : .

This is one that I've been wanting for some time. It's a picture of the gym inside the newer State Street building. Besides playing basketball here, it also served as our lunchroom. As you can tell from the ceiling, this was a very challenging place (ha--to say the least!) to play basketball. Garfield School on Central didn't have a lunchroom. For a period of time, they bussed kids over to State Street for lunch.

State Street School, Grade 6, 1961-1962 Sorry, but I do not know the names of the kids. If you can identify any of them....have at it! I do recognize one kid in this picture. From the top: 3rd row, 4th from the left, Billy Hasch. He lived just up the street from me on Center. His house was the 2nd house south of Wolf Street on the right. Also, notice the patrol boys in the picture. The kid with the string bow-tie looks really familiar...The kid at the far right of the 4th row looks like he just stepped off the set of Stand By Me.

Pictured is the State Street Cafeteria Staff in 1959. Note the old East Columbus Fire Department Station in the background. That block building and all of the buildings in that block were torn down when the new State Street bank was built in the late 1960's or early 1970's. L - R: Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Miller, Unknown
