I'm going back one month on this entry to record Billboard Magazine's top 10 songs on the HOT 100 Chart for the week ending April 4, 1964. The record this chart holds hasn't been surpassed for 44 years and at this point in time, I wonder if the record will ever be broken...
Billboard TOP 10 Songs for week ending 4/4/1964
#10 Glad All Over--The Dave Clark Five #9 My Heart Belongs To Only You--Bobby Vinton #8 Shoop Shoop Song--Betty Everett #7 Hello Dolly--Louis Armstrong #6 Suspicion--Terry Stafford #5 Please Please Me--The Beatles #4 I Want To Hold Your Hand--The Beatles #3 She Loves You--The Beatles #2 Twist And Shout--The Beatles #1 Can't Buy Me Love--The Beatles
Not only did The Beatles own the Top 5 spots for that week in April, but they also held the following positions:
#31 I Saw Her Standing There #41 From Me To You #46 Do You Want To Know A Secret #58 All My Loving #65 You Can't Do That #68 Roll Over Beethoven #79 Thank You Girl
There were songs by The Beatles and there were songs ABOUT The Beatles:
#42 We Love You Beatles--The Carefrees #85 A Letter To The Beatles--The 4 Preps

As a matter of music trivia, Del Shannon released a version of the Beatle song From Me To You in the summer of 1963. The song hit the #77 spot on the HOT 100 Chart week ending July 20, 1963. His rendition spent 4 weeks in the Top 100.
The Beatles first entered the American charts with the song bubbling under the Top 100 on August 3rd at #125. It climbed to #116 one week later, then quickly fell off the charts until Beatlemania struck the nation in early 1964. According to sources, Dick Clark offered up a 5 minute spot on the Beatles right around this time on his American Bandstand tv show. The kids laughed and made fun of their hairdo.
I guess America wasn't quite ready for Beatlemania that summer of 1963.

For the past two weeks, I've been listening to the Beatles 2009 remastered cds.
All I can say is both sets, the mono and stereo, are unbelievable.
These sets are NOT remixed. All songs have been completely remastered and by comparing my 33's, 45's, LP's, and cd's, there is definitely a difference with these new remastered releases.
The mono set includes:
·Please Please Me ·With The Beatles ·A Hard Day's Night ·Beatles For Sale ·Help! (CD also includes original 1965 stereo mix)+ ·Rubber Soul (CD also include original 1965 stereo mix)+ ·Revolver+ ·Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band+ ·Magical Mystery Tour+ ·The Beatles+ ·Mono Masters (features all of the mono tracks that appeared on singles, EPs. or that never made it onto the 13 albums)
You may have problems finding this set as only 10,000 box sets were produced.
The sound is incredible. Has anyone here listened to any of the new releases?

Gregg, that's right... ;D
Well, it was an auction. I picked up about 200 LP's. Got a GREAT copy of The Clovers first LP, with Blue Velvet, and the Beatles 2nd LP, but instead of saying "The Beatles Second Album," it says The Beatles Long Tall Sally. Also, throw in Walter Brennan's LP with Old Rivers too. Oh—and some old blues LP's by Slim Harpo and Muddy Waters.

I've been on an "Easy Listening" kick lately. I looked at the discography for 101 Strings and was amazed by how many LP's they put out. Well over 100. I'm looking for their Astro Sounds From Beyond The Year 2000. Been listening to the Mystic Moods Orchestra a lot lately. I like the way they mixed ambient sounds with the songs.

David, We just had a little water that dampened the carpet on the landing going down to our den. Gutter guards are on order. We were some of the lucky ones. Nashville will be a long time recovering from this........but then noone from Columbus needs to be told that! Thanks for asking.
