Hi All!
Earlier today, I received a notice from ProBoards regarding their new version 5 software they are currently beta testing and our message board has been selected as one of the participants in the upcoming version. The little bit I read about it sounds very interesting and exciting. Many changes are about to happen with our message board.
I will keep you informed...stay tuned!

The following is in today’s edition of The Republic and was published in 1962. "A website which is dedicated to photos and memories of Columbus history was created by Columbus resident David Sechrest."That was under the 2002 portion of the looking back section. I don't think anyone even concieved of anything quite like what the Internet has evolved into back in 1962! Thanks to David for 10 years of online Columbus history!

Thanks Ricky for the heads up on the date. That was a typo on my part. The original post has been corrected.

It appears that ProBoards is winding up their Beta testing and getting ready for the Official Launch.
In reading through some of the new features, it sounds very good. It appears we will have the ability to "LIKE" posts, probably something similar to how Facebook works.
I still am not able to access my FTP client to upload new info to the HCI website. Also, by using the FTP uploader, I can change the code for the Message Board welcome page, thus redesigning it. I have no intention of doing that. But once I get my FTP client up and running, I do want to see if I can move the "50 Latest Posts" to the top of the page.
Oh! I did add a blip about checking out the 50 Latest Posts in the News Fader at the top of the Welcome Page.
Lots going on here, on the home front. I hope to share some exciting news with you all in the very near future!

The recent loss of pictures in the LIFE Thread, and the loss of George's pictures brings up something we all must remember, and take into consideration.
ProBoards is a free message board hosting service. This marks my third, and so far, successful attempt at creating a message board. Some here will remember my first two tries, and their failures because the companies went belly up. Using ProBoards thus far, has proven to be a wise choice. However, none of us know what the future holds.
I did look into developing a message board designed specifically for our needs, and hosting it myself. The problem with that is, I know nothing of PHP coding, and it is quite expensive to have a message board designed, managed, and kept up to date. That would require the services of a professional organization.
It would be nice if, some day, this board could find a permanent home. But that cost is something I simply cannot afford. So, in the interim, we all do the best we can.
Bob and George, I'm sorry you lost all those pictures. Believe me, I know how much work you put into uploading them, then adding them to the board here. In this case, Imageshack is the culprit. But until there is some sort of funded repository designed specifically for us, then we all remain at the mercy of the world wide web.
