I remember both these names and the restaurant's located at the vortex corner of 2221 Illinois and State Street. It served as a truck stop grill, mostly during the 1940s and part of the 1950s. Then in the late 1950s Indiana Basketball Hall of Famer Bob "Bird" Welmer opened it into a restaurant.
I recall stopping periodically with the guys, or a date and having a hamburger and coke etc. I keep thinking that Bob Welmer may have served pizza there from 1959 through 1960, but not sure on this point.
The location was on the cruise list that went past East Columbus over Clifty Creek back to the State Road and to the Bob-O-Link. Actually, the route was huge and within the streets of all of Columbus. Gasoline was only about .28 or .30 cents a gallon in those days.
Thanks Richard for helping me with some of these details above.
Bob
