Chief James Kailor, who was the city's first salaried full-time fire chief, he was appointed in 1918 by then Mayor Frank S. Jones. He served five four-year terms as chief of the Columbus Fire Department. This picture would have been about 1930.

The house was occupied or owned by Mrs. Ethel G. Crump. It was still located next to the Fire Department in 1953. So from that point if someone researched the Columbus Phone Books or Directories a possible date can be determined. In the 1953 Columbus Directory the following is listed on the side of Washington Street, starting at 11th Street and ending at 12th Street. Also, research at the Republic Paper archives could reveal an article because of the historic name connected to the house. The picture you are talking about is dated 1961, so the razing of the house was after that date.
Columbus Directory Washington Street Year 1953: 11th. intersects
1102 Mrs. Ethel G. Crump (The House In Question)
1110 City Fire Department Headquarters Fire Department Company # 1 City Electrical Inspector
1120 Thompson Dairy Inc.
12th. intersects
Another Option: George or Richard might give you an estimate to help in your research.

Bob and Ricky.......this picture was 1961, as I remember the home was torn down when 11th St. was extended and that date I'm sorry to say I don't have, will have to research this one. Richard would you have this information on hand?. First of all, let put a disclaimer to this post. I’ll need to go downtown to see if the true information can be found. This posting is to tease the minds of those that lived in Columbus or visited during that era. My thinking is that Eleventh Street was extended west from Washington Street at the same or near the same time that the Rail Road was moved and Lindsay and Brown Streets were extended and rebuilt. I believe that work occurred during the building of the Commons area in 1973. Richard
