Some time in the past months the staff, found some degradation of the masonry work on the old north gate at Garland Brook Cemetery. The newspaper said that it was feared that the winter weather would further damage the masonry part of the gate. The picture below shows the method used to protect the structure until the weather will allow repairs to be made.

I believe that the restoration of the old north gate at Garland Brook Cemetery is complete. Last evening I drove into the cemetery and saw scaffolding and a tractor with lifting forks on the front. Today that equipment is gone and the masonry work looks new.

We drove by and saw the men working on the gate to Garland Brook on 10th Street the other day. Today we drove by and the gate is good as new! Looks great! I wonder why they didn't do this "upkeep" like in the Fall before it got so cold? Oh well, it looks wonderful now. Better late than never.

It is nice to see Garland Brook so well kept. Glad the stonework was done. Both of my parents are buried there and I don't get back often enough to visit. I graduated in 1956 and was married in 1960 and moved to New York with my AF husband. We moved a lot in the service but always think of Columbus as my first real home. Thanks for the message boards, it is a great way to keep in touch with the happenings there. Janet Pittman Reeve
