As most know it has been replaced with a newer wider bridge across Hawcreek on 7th Street.

The bridge is in the Congressional Achieves of history

This bridge no longer crosses Hawcreek. Many years ago the bridge was replaced due to safety and age. These pictures are being shown to reflect the past for young and older folks that remember the bridge. The pictures are taken from the files of the Library of Congress and serve no value hidden in the congressional files. They are presented here just for a past view of Columbus history and knowledge for the younger generations.

Thanks to Norman Morris, here are two pictures of the old bridge that once sat over Hawcreek on National Road by the Eastgate Shopping Center. The pics were taken by Norman in April, 1990 while construction for the new bridge was happening.

Bartholomew County, Indiana




History Brief:

Built ca.1900 over Big Slough on CR 700N; moved in 1989 to Historical Society land off of CR 100W on Henry Breeding Farm.
