I recall several good times at the 25th Street Fairgrounds, in the 1950's. One 4th of July, it was so chilly at the foreworks show there we had to take blankets. The carnivals were fun and I liked the Hell Driver Shows(Joey Chitwood). I saw Conway Twitty there, doing Mona Lisa, R & R style. Also saw Jimmy Biggs & The Big Boys. Foot-long hot dogs, my first "girly show," watching brave guys get tattoos. (They bled !)

The following information is from 1964. It was in the Looking Back feature in the June 2, 2014, edition of The Republic. Automobile racing is replacing harness racing at the Bartholomew County Fair. The fifty-year old Bartholomew County Fair will now be known as Columbus Fair and Racing Carnival.
