Listed below are the street and business names as listed on the 1886 Sanborn Map. I make no claim that my typing of this list is without errors.
As the newer lists are added, you’ll have a snapshot of how Columbus, Indiana grew. You’ll notice street address ranges lengthen and new street names added. In some cases the original name will be replaced and/or consolidated with an original name with the address range showing the extension.
Likewise, the business name list will show how Columbus worked, shopped and worshiped through the years. You will also note changes in ownership and closures of others.
This 1886 map lists the population as 6,500 and as other maps are added note the population increasing as well as the number and length of streets and the business list.
