Used to work at the old Cox Cable building on Jackson Street now Comcast I think? I transfered to a Cox system in Myrtle Beach years ago. Hope the building didn't get it to bad.

If you haven't read this, please pay strict attention:
Dennis Moats, the local EMA director, said the opening would take a few days. FEMA officials are gathering damage estimates.
People should call the local EMA to fill out preliminary damage reports, which will help local officials "make our case" to FEMA for financial assistance, Moats said.
Information: 379-1680.

Dear Friends, If you live out of state, and would like to help with a monetary donation, our Church has established a fund to be used for the Flood Victims. ALL donations will be used for them...NO ADMISTRATIVE FEES will be deducted.
Please make check to:
First Baptist Church , designate Disaster/Flood Relief in the memo line, and mail to:
First Baptist Church 3300 Fairlawn Drive Columbus,IN 47203 812-376-3321
God Bless you for wishing to help during this tragic time in Columbus,In. We are seeing an outpouring of Volunteer workers, but assistance from the government will take quite a while. Our pastor, Rev.Dan Cash, is also out daily, finding people who are needing help desperately.
This will be an ongoing project for at least 2 weeks, if not longer. Many have lost everything, and have no Flood insurance. THANK YOU SO MUCH for whatever you care to donate. A SPECIAL HUG FOR NANC who responded so quickly. If you are local, and wish to join our Disaster Relief Team, just call the church for information 812-376-3321. You may access www.qmix.com for any updated information..this web site is free. With a grateful heart....Margo Hughey www.fbccolumbus.org

Does anyone have any information about the lagoons - Noblit Falls - located between Washington Street and the Flatrock River? My parents built a home there and I wondered how it was. It is at the corner of Sunset and Flatrock Drives.

Gail, I know some of the Lagoons did experience some water. I have a friend on 17th and Newsom that the water surrounded her house, but she did not get any inside. Have you tried The Republic website www.therepublic.com or Qmix web site www.qmix.com The local number for Qmix is 812-379-1077. You might try calling them and see if they have current info by giving them the street address. If no luck, send me a private email with the address, and I will check it out Friday , when I can drive again. Margo Hughey mar_hughey@hotmail.com

Thanks Margo. The address is 309 Flatrock Drive. It is at the corner of Sunset and Flatrock and is the only house in the area with a pool. My parents built it in 1955. I now live in Maryland and the house was sold 20 years ago but, I still think of it as my "home". Thanks for any information you can find. I graduated from Columbus "North" in 1959. I am glad you are OK. What a horrible experience for everyone there.

GAIL I SENT AN E MAIL TO CAL BRAND TO ASK ABOUT THE LAGOONS THIS IS HIS RESPONSE Hi Jack, Glad to know Gail is still alive and kicking. She was a year ahead of us and you are right, they lived in the northeast corner of Sunset and Flatrock, across from Dunlaps. There was significant flooding for many of those homes. I don't know about her old home. Some places may be total losses. Typically, on the lagoon side, basements filled and water entered the main floor. Instead of the two small lakes you remember, it was one big lake. I think folks on the river fared a little better - at least the water went down much more quickly. Say "Hi" to Gail and give her my email address. By the way, we were unaffected here on California. Peace, Cal :-) SO GAIL IF YOU EMAIL ME ILL GIVE YOU CAL'S ID Does anyone have any information about the lagoons - Noblit Falls - located between Washington Street and the Flatrock River? My parents built a home there and I wondered how it was. It is at the corner of Sunset and Flatrock Drives.

Hi Jack. I am not sure how to respond just to you. We were neighbors in Meade Village and on the Lagoons. Thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Does he live in the staste of California or on California Street?

I know the current owners of 309 Flatrock. From what I've been told, the house got water into the sunken living room, but water did not get into the rest of the main living space. Clean-up has begun, and only time will tell what structural damage there may be. Of course, furnace, water heater, etc., was all in the basement area, but no living space was in the basement. The owner was actually out in the yard when he noticed water coming in under the fence and into the pool. Within minutes, water was pushing down the hill to the lagoon like a waterfall.

Hi Rhonda, Thank you, so much for the information. While the house is no longer in the family it is still very much a part of my life. I am glad to hear only the living room upstiars was flooded. The lower level opened out onto the lagoon and for a time my husband and I and our first child lived down there while he was a student at Franklin College. I am sure the damage there is significant. I would guess the pool is probably damaged and of course the furnace/AC, etc are gone. When my parents built the house my mother was upset they were required to have flood insurance. Her words, "Like the Flatrock River will EVER rise up high enough to flood this house"!!! It took almost 60 years but, it did. Thanks again for the report. Please extend my sympathy to the present owners. I live on a river here in Maryland and have dealt with water damage. It is a mess to clean up.
