Harry McCawley had a column the other day talking about a Tucker dealership that Sap Essex had established at 6th and Washington. It must have been the building where that office supply store is now. I'm looking for a newspaper article, ad or any pictures about the Columbus connection to Tucker. The car never went into full production (only 50 were ever built). Several of the protypes were touring the country drawing great crowds wherever they went. Typically a dealer would only get a car for days at a time so it would have been an event. The time frame would have probably been in 48 or 49 (Tucker went bust in 49 soon after his fraud trial was started. He was found innocent but his car and dream was finished.

Ricky I saw the car, I was about 13 or 14 years old at the time. The car was in the building at the corner of 6th and Washington St, on the southeast corner. The show room was actually on 6th street, the first opening going east from the corner, the opening has since been closed up, but still visible. Have you seen the movie" Tucker"?. I have the tape if you would like to see it. George

Much thanx for that memory George, I will check out that corner. I've been scanning the newspaper archives, there has to have been an article or maybe even a picture published. A lot of people were inspired by Preston Tucker's dream. I have a copy of the movie also. It is one of my favorites.
