The Historic Columbus Committee will be meeting at Loesch's Heating & Air on Tuesday, November 16th at 6:30pm. Anyone interested is more than welcome to join us. Jim's address is 1332 11th St.---which is 11th & Michigan.
There is always so much to see at Jim's place, and I urge anyone interested in Columbus history to join us.
One of the items on the agenda will be a discussion about having our 4th Historic Columbus Celebration in 2011. 2011 does hold some significance for me personally, as that is when I began work on creating the Historic Columbus Indiana website. Hard to believe the website will be 10 years old next year!!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 16th!

David, Lets make this happen in 2011! I do remember when your website was starting. You were initially just remembering your growing up years but it soon grew to be much more. I had just recently transplanted here and was fascinated by the historic trivia, especially the long gone stores and childhood memores. We kept talking about waiting for the Commons to be finished. It is scheduled to be completed and "maybe" open by March. They are planning a weeklong grand opening celebration in June or July. It's still not clear how space is going to be configured and rented. It will be under control of the Parks Department in conjunction with the Arts Council. As you may or may not know, most of the lower floor space from the Chaos sculture to 4th Street will be retail/restraurant space. There will be an open public lobby around the sculpture leading into the new playground area to the left and to the upper floor space on the right which will be available for events and concerts. I think it will be a really cool and accessible area but details are still lacking. There will be escalators and service elevators to the upper space.
