I am trying to find out about County Stadium. Myself and others built this ball park in the 70's and wonder what has become of it. My name is Rod Eliot

Hello Mr. Eliot! Yes the County Stadium is still where you started it and it's used all summer long. I’ll go down there in a few days to see if I can get a picture. I don’t go down there often so I can’t tell you tonight how many diamonds are there.
And yes I did eat at the Ponderosa Steak House on Marr Road. Today it houses Tapatio Mexican Restaurant which has been located there for several years.

Glad you sent the information. I hear they changed the name to something else. I moved to Arizona in 1977 and have really missed out on how ever thing has changed. My whole family moved back to Huntington, IN Sept 2005 and I can't wait to get down to Columbus and see the changes. I know 69-77 was something special to a lot of people. We received a x-mas card from Pete and Marge Shehan telling me how the Ponderosa Playmakers girl softball team had a get togeather past labor day. They tried to get me but we were moving from one state to the other. Also one thing most people don't know is the Ponderosa on Marr Rd started Tuesday night specials which as every one knows is a staple item these days in most restaurants. Also Marr Rd Ponderosa had the first banquet room in the chain.

This is really strange. While I was on the phone with my aunt today, I was telling her about your hot oven! We were talking about Baked Potato’s.
I also recall being in your banquet room for a fire department training session. I seem to recall your real customers had trouble finding room to park!
Good to hear from you as I’ve often wondered how you liked Arizona.

Arizona is with out any doubt another world. As my daughter called it a "hell hot hole". We lived there for 28 years and I can't complain how I made out. I am retired and all that. But one thing I would like to tell any one who reads this is...You don't know how pretty it is in Indiana till you live in the southwest for 28 years. Everytime I see a tree being cut down I want to cry. The first time I cut my grass in September I wanted to get down and kiss it. I looked up and saw a cloud and it took my breath away. I got the rain results today and it said that Tucson had 9.58 inches for the year and I looked up Ft Wayne and it said 31.19. I could go on but I am sure I would be boring. Any way I could write much more about how people here say things like "thank You" and men open doors for ladies and ladies speak and seem not to be afraid of their surroundings. Gee I could go on and on but it is time to go to sleep. Rod

As I was always proud to sponsor sports in Columbus I was wondering if any one could tell me what ever happened to Kelly Morris who was a Ice Dancer who made it to the nationals with her partner in the late 70's?

Hello, Mr. Eliot. We had sun for a short time today in Columbus. Below are a couple of pictures. The two diamonds on the east side are against the Railroad right-of-way. The remaining diamonds are west of the first two with a paved parking lot west of those. As you can see, all four diamonds are lighted. The pictures were taken by holding my camera over the top of an approximately six-foot fence that’s around the complex. Both views are from the south side looking north toward Columbus.
