By the time the 1980's rolled around, downtown Columbus looked pretty much like it does today. If I remember correctly, Cummins Headquarters began their "downtown" operations in 1981. Here's your chance to talk about how Columbus was in the 1980's!

From 1982 — This is from today’s Looking Back column in The Republic. Ross Crump, Bartholomew County historian, John Newman, a State of Indiana archivist and Renee Henry, director of the Bartholomew County Historical Society met to determine which 19th century records that’s stored at the Bartholomew County Courthouse should be saved.

The following information is from 1964. It was in the Looking Back feature in the December 9, 2014, edition of The Republic. 2,106 Bartholomew County families had incomes below the federal yearly poverty income of $3,000.00.
