The following was in1965 and in the Looking Back feature in the September 29, 2015, edition of The Republic. The Farmers Marketing Association Creamery, located on the North side of Second Street at its intersection with Third Street, turned off its butter churns, after Forty Years of continuous operation. The creamery will still receive whole milk from about five hundred local farmers, to process and sell bulk sweet cream to manufactures of food products.

The following information was in 1965 in the Looking Back feature in the October 3, 2015, edition of The Republic. Tom Thompson introduced an eight-lane racing track in his new slot-car racing center in his new Camera and Hobby shop in the twenty-fifth Street Shopping Center.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature in the October 27, 2015, edition of The Republic. It is from 1965.
The “Shelbyville local” freight train was discontinued. Aging, deteriorating track was determined to be the cause of three recent derailments. The freight is now routed through Indianapolis.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2015, The Republic, printed the following from 1965. Arvin Industries stock took a giant leap upward after the company announced it would start marketing color televisions with tubes made in Japan.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature of the Republic. On November 7, 1965, the W. D. Richard elementary School was dedicated. On November 8, 1965, Building permits were issued for a Howard Johnson restaurant on 46 west and a drive-in window at Sap’s Bakeries at National Road and Central Avenue.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature of the Republic on Wednesday December 21, 2016.
Bartholomew County Hospital announced room rates would increase as of Jan. 1, 1967 with semi-private rooms going from $19 to $24 and three-bed accommodations from $17 to $22.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature of the Republic on Thursday, February 9, 2017.
Fifty years ago, In 1967, Columbus service stations raised gasoline prices $0.01. A regular grade is now about $0.29 and premium is $0.32.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature of the Republic on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Fifty years ago, In 1967, the Columbus Handle and Tool Corporation, located at 1425 Michigan Avenue and which was founded in 1891 was closed by True Temper Corporation and moved to Cleveland, Ohio.

The following information was in the Looking Back feature of the Republic on November 30, 2017. Fifty years ago today, Miles Laboratories Inc. have purchased the Union Starch and Refining Co. Union Starch and Refining Company, gave the community a farewell gift for a chapel to the new Frances Comfort Thomas Children’s Home.

From today’s looking back. Two new restaurants on 25th Street, Lum’s and Pizza Hut, were under construction with plans to open in early 1969.
