Besides Loesch's Heating and Air, the only other business so far that's still in business and the same location today . . . Sparkle Car Wash, 2018 National Road. They were also a gas station.

Bulldog Lanes. Bulldog lanes sat just north of the Columbus Drive In, and is still in business. Notice that 8th Street is how residents left Columbus.

When mom and dad had money, we went to Columbus Lanes in East Columbus. I remember going bowling in 1962, as Big John by Jimmy Dean was the big hit and played constantly on the juke box. As you can tell by the address listed in the ad, Columbus Lanes was right at the edge of town in 1962 (and probably not even considered in the city limits, but I could be wrong here). There was no Marr Road going north. That whole area was nothing but a corn field most of the time.

Here is where we all went bowling throughout high school. For a while, it became quite the hangout. Miller's Bowling Lanes...what memories of this place... The building today is a tool/equipment rental place.

Irwin Union Bank and its 4 locations. This one got me to thinking about when the State Street branch was built. I can't remember if we've discussed this in the past. I think the new Hook's Drugs and Jay-C building came before the bank, which means that my memory of the Hooks/Jay-C opening was earlier than what I originally thought.
