Well...our CHS Class of 1970 celebrated our 35th class reunion last Saturday evening in the community building at the 4-H fairgrounds. There were around 150 alumni that showed up, and judging from the email I received, and comments I heard at the reunion, everyone enjoyed themselves.
To help keep costs down, I volunteered to dee-jay the event. Originally, that was my main intent, but after attending one of the committee meetings, I more or less became involved with the group.
I enjoyed doing this, and I'm hoping to stay active as a committee member.
For those of you who graduated in 1970 and wasn't able to attend the festivities, here's a brief rundown of the evening's activities.
People began arriving as early as 6:30, and by 7pm, we already had a pretty good crowd. A few announcements were made, music was played, and dinner (provided by Lemley's) was at 8pm. After dinner, alot more music, and drawings were held. Many great prizes were given away.
Around 10pm, I did a special presentation for those classmates that are no longer with us, and talk about an attention getter. The place was so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.
Bob Anderson, from Stillframes Photography, set up that evening to take classmates pictures. He brought in all of his equipment, and offered different packages for sale. The nice thing was, Bob brought his printer with him, and those who got their pics taken were able to take a 5x7 home with them that evening.
One of the most fun aspects of having pictures taken was those of us who also went to the same grade school, and quite a few got together to have "grade school" pictures taken. For the State Street picture, there were about 7 or 8 of us that got together, and many other took advantage of doing this as well.
Margo--if this would be something you'd be interested in doing at your upcoming reunion, drop me an email and I'll put you in touch with Bob.
I also want to thank Bob for loaning me his computer projector so I could show pictures of Columbus, students, and faculty during the entire evening.
I'm going to keep the 1970 reunion website up and running. I'm going to make a few changes to it, and occasionally post announcements on the page. Hopefully, some of you that couldn't attend this one will discover this page, and be able to keep up to date on when the next reunion will be (sometime in 2010), and I hope that you will use this folder to stay in touch with all of us!
The festivities wound down around midnight (we're not as young as we used to be). Alot of people made song requests, and danced the night away.
In all, it was a great time. And we hope that our 40th will be even bigger and better!
