Hello To All! ProBoards has just announced a new feature to go along with the Message Board: Chat Room capabilities! I thought it would be really nice to have a Historic Columbus Indiana Chat Room for us to talk online to one another. What with nanc in California, Bob in South Carolina, and all of us scattered about, the Chat Room will be nice to be able to share ideas with one another online and without having to rely on email all the time. And with that said, here's the link to The Historic Columbus Indiana Chat Room: client0.addonchat.com/sc.php?id=185209 The Historic Columbus Indiana Chat Room</a> How To Access The Historic Columbus Indiana Chat Room:It appears you have to use Internet Explorer to access the Chat Room. I tried getting in with my AT&T Yahoo browser, but it didn't work. nanc, I don't think your AOL browser will let you to get in either. Try using your Internet Explorer and that should do it. The other important item is you have to have your Java software up to date. If you find you cannot get into the Chat Room, try updating your Java software. Here's a link to the Java/Sun website: www.java.com/en/. Click on the Download Now button. Once you get to the Sign-In page, just create whatever name you wish. You don't have to create a password. It would be nice if everyone would keep their Message Board name, tho, so we will know who is who. Once you get in the Chat Room, you'll notice a yellow border at the bottom. This is where you type your comments. You can either hit the "Send" button, or the "Enter" button on your keyboard to post a comment in the Chat Room. I'm not sure how many guests the Chat Room will hold at one time. If you can't get in, it might be because the room is full. Keep Trying... Also, remember that some of us aren't as fast at the keyboard as others, so please be patient. Everyone is invited to join in! Please check it out and let me know what you think! If any of you have problems getting in to the Chat Room, please leave your questions here.

Hi to all, and the CHAT ROOM works, as several of us can testify. ;D Really a cool addition to the website. Many kudos to David for doing this, as well as the home page is really IMPRESSIVE with the new look. Also, thanks should go to Richard and Bob for 'sharing the midnight oil' with David to get the chat room into place. The chat room does NOT take the place of recording one's memories 'officially' on the message boards. BUT it is sure a great place to 'catch up' with friends-------and we are all scattered in many directions. Enjoy. And thanks David, and Richard and Bob, too. Nanc

Ditto to all of Nanc's comments. I just had my first official chat and it was fun and I also learned how to send a repeat message by using the up arrow. Neat.
Thanks so much David for getting this chat room going and to all the other who assisted you in any way. We want you to know we are all here, cheering you on and hoping you are feeling better each day.

I want to 2nd what nanc said about the Chat Room not taking the place of the Message Board.
The Chat Room is a place for us to get to know one another through live, online chat, and, in the committee's interest, a place for us to Go Live and talk about our upcoming Celebration on April 14th.
It is hoped that all members, and non-members will join us...

Hello Everyone from South Florida
Trying to find out if the Class of 1957 is having a Class Reunion this summer and all of the details. For some reasons we do not hear from anyone - we have lived in the same house for nearly 30 years, same address until recently.
Want to come "one last time". Thank you.

Hi! I am new to this board and not sure where to ask a question so I will try it here.
I use to eat at a place in Columbus in the early 1960’s. I think it was on the south side of 25th street near Arby’s and I think the name of the place was the Oriental Gardens. Was there a restaurant around there? Was it named Oriental Gardens? Am I dreaming? Thanks, Jim

The place that sold hot dogs steamed in beer was Lum's. The Oriental Gardens was on 25th Street, right next door to Central Pharmacy, and west of the railroad tracks. I think the buildings were connected, but the pharmacy portion was much older.

I AM TRYING TO LOCATE ANY ALUMNI from the original Lincoln School on 2nd and Franklin Streets.
I am trying to help out the organizers( Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center) who are planning the Celebration for Lincoln Elementary School and it's Alumni on May 22nd this year.
The scrapbook committee is requesting any photos of teachers, staff, students, or the building on 2nd and Franklin Streets. They are also requesting a message from any Alumni, with memories to share. These will be placed in the scrapbook, which will be on display that day, also. Photos will be copied and RETURNED.
I have already received some great pictures from Bob Records, and am looking for more.
PLEASE share this message with anyone that you know may be an Alumni of this great school. Place the date, May 22nd, on your calendar, and I hope you can be there in person. Thanks so much !!! Margo

Hello. There is a reunion at CHS next year of the undefeated football team of 1960; I am a younger brother of one of the players. And there was recently a mention made of this site and of Schiller Cadillac, Janice Schiller, and Gordon Wilson Olds/Cadillac; I dated a Linda Wilson for a while. Anyone know of what became of her? And there was mention of a fight at Central Jr. High and of a student's getting his arm sliced via a window's breaking; that was circa 1959, and the guy was my best friend, Ronnie Manley, who tried to break up a fight on the gym's steps; he and I are still close to this day. Thanks.--Mike Lindeman, mjlatty1@mail2web.com
