Here is a "restaurant" I never heard of. Maybe some here will remember it. I ran across this ad for the Gatewood Drive In in the January 1, 1957 newspaper. I apologize for the image quality, but it's the best that can be done coming from microfilm. Who remembers this place, and where was it? I know it says "two miles north on 31." Was this originally the Denny's restaurant that was out that way?

I found out last week that the Gatewood Drive In later became the Park n' Eat.

Well, David I enlarged that small picture you posted, by 500 percent. I think this place was across the road from the old Denny's restaurant. As you approached Columbus coming from Edinburg on highway U.S. 31; it was on the right side, and just a small amount of driving on the left side of U.S. 31 was Denny's. Even the name Gateway Drive Inn reveals that it was located coming into Columbus. In other words a "Gateway" to Columbus Indiana. I remember stopping there a few times between 1957 and 1960.

I went to movies at a zdrivrin theater which must have been very close to this location. Would have been 1957 or 1958. The Columbus Meechangs base ball was probable near y across hey 31.
