Hi George,
I hope you kept those postcards on a high shelf during the flood! I hope you were high and dry, some of were lucky...and grateful, some not so lucky. That's why it is so good that much of our Columbus history has been saved here even if many of the originals have floated away.

Hi Ricky,
Thank you, we were one of the lucky ones in the city, the flood didn't get us, I hope you were one of the lucky ones also. We had a cabin at Heflin camp for several years and the river got in it a few times, so on a smaller scale I can relate to what the clean up can be, I sure feel sorry for the ones that the flood did get. All of the postcards are high and dry, I am still looking for Columbus cards all the time, they are becoming harder to find, there are still several that I know that I don't have.

This card is unused, but appears to be the late 30's date wise. The Gamble Store and Mode theater can be seen on the east side of Washington St., across the street from the Mode is a Drug store on the north conner of the alley, remember it but not the name?. Also the interurban tracks can be seen.

This card has a Columbus postmark of Apr.23,1913 and depicts a railroad repair crew, maybe making repairs after the flood of 1913, which was in March of 1913.
