One of the states I do recall John Rondot said he did not have a map from was California. Is it possible you have one prior to the interstate system going in, Nanc? He mentioned three states I believe and I'm sure California was one of them.

Unfortunately, I don't have a CA map that fits that description, as I 'let those go' when I sold my 63 Datsun station wagon to a collector in KC, MO---------and yes, he drove to CA to get my car, and had hounded me for several years to sell it. Nanc

Three Part Response
Part One: Margo
That is great news because I haven't been in the place in so many years I can't remember the last time.
Part Two: Nanc's Fly Map
Great details and humorous, but includes no detour for a famous Fish Sandwich or Tenderloin special at the Fish House or Columbus Bar. See I am alway thinking about my gut.........may be my reason for overweight of body frame. Ho Hum..........anyway great plan.
Part Three: Rhonda's dedication sign pending
Good for you and the historical location!

Bob Iwas not aware of this web site until you posted about it.
I browsed their site briefly and am just guessing ~~but my choices would be the Columbus Area Arts Council or The Heartland Center. Michele Bottorf gave me the Columbus Area Arts Council newsletter contact and I sent them some information about it. However ~ the Heartland Center is listed also on this web site and Bob did an awesome job on our Posters.
David...would you know for sure? If not will check with them before the week's over. My plate runneth over this week....
Also for you locals..Dave Sechrest and I did an interview with Keith Maddox at QMIX/KORN Radio [ 107.3] today and it should air starting tommorrow. He has invited us back next week to do an indepth interview on their morning show !! Still waiting on an interview time with WCSI and am hoping the Republic wil have an article yet this week.

Margo you and David have really been busy promoting the Historical Event with the radio coverage. With Sam Simmermaker being the event MC I would think that Sam would interview you two on WCSI. Sam is a great guy and he will serve well at the MC job Saturday April 14, 2007. Remember this........Sam is also a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of fame as a sportscaster. Radio Sam and Harry of the Republic have covered Columbus in-depth since around the 1960s forward, in a superb manner.
Anyway, great news on the advertising going on in the paper, internet and local radio stations. Hats off to you and David for a job well done.
Bob

Wow!!! DOUBLE WOW!!!! Bob, and AMEN!!! Let's hear cheers across this US of A for David, as well as for Richard, who is the silent and quiet partner in all of this. Kudos to many others as well, Babs, Margo, Joy, oh, my goodness the list goes on and on. Jim, Linda, Michele, Margie, Ricky, George and I know I have forgotten someone. This celebration on April 14th will be something to behold.
Thanks, George, for you comments. I have only been away from the boards for a couple of hours, and ready to put the computer to bed, and WHOA, the posts. Awesome. You gotta love the input. That is what it is all about, folks. It is all in the 'posting.'
See you all on the 14th for sure!!!! With bells on!!!!
Nanc 'n daughter Paige, as she is as excited as I am. You gotta love it, folks.

Weather alert for our out of town guests coming to our 2nd Annual Columbus Historic Celebration. We are to be down into the 20's overnight the next few nights. :-(
You might want to pack an extra sweater, jacket or sweatshirt when you depart California or South Carolina or any other "warm weather climate"! It's Springtime in Indiana and you know what they say "just wait, you never know what our weather will be in a while". So be forewarned, it may be cooler here next week than what you are used to. An extra covering of some kind may be very appropriate.
See you all soon and safe travels.

Be sure and read Harry McCawley's column in the Republic (5 April 2007). Very kind words about our event and especially a great tribute to Dave Sechrest who he has singled out as our inspiration. We hadn't heard much from Harry so far but I was counting on him to come thru for us and he did!

And from the Hallelujah Corner we hear a rousing AMEN !!!
Just got off the phone after speaking with David and he has not read the column yet . So he has a nice surprise waiting for him.
Those of us on the Planning Committe know what type of gentleman he is. For others I encourage you to meet him on the 14th at or near the Welcome/Registration Table.
Ricky: I echo your thanks to Harry for his great column in today's paper. I was beginning to think I would have to go down there and type it myself !! [ NOT a pretty sight ......]
I still encourage everyone to write a letter to the editor defining what you are looking forward to at the Event this year. Web address is : editorial@therepublic.com.
David and I are set to do another onair interview with QMIX on Monday morning (4/09/07) which should air all next week. I'm still playing phone tag with John Foster at WCSI ~ but will keep trying. Even talked to Sam " The Man" and he is really fired up about this event. Was very happy to hear Bob R. would be in town for it.
Once again I encourage everyone to join me at the Community Good Friday Services at the Commons at noon tommorrow (4/06/07). Come early for a seat. If you have no one to sit with~ just send me a message or look for my Cane "Sam I Am".
I am posting Easter Services at First Baptist in the Church folder. I encourage others to list their churches also.

Let's Plan our Meeting place somewhere down by the stage area on Monday night April 9th at 6:30 pm. Still hoping Tami can show us what type of backdrop /screens she has available as I know Jim wanted to see them before hand.
The final meeting before our EVENT will be Friday night April 13th at 7:30 pm or as soon as First Friday for Families program is over. Still in the same location so we can have Joy show us how it's blocked out for the next morning.

It's wonderful that Dale's son is flying in from California for our event. Know both Dale and Uncle David will be pleased to see him. We learned about this visitor via Nanc in California!(This is a long story and Nanc will have to fill you in when she arrives.)
It seems we will have a lot of out of state visitors this year and that is terrific!

I just have to make a comment to extend what Babs and Margo mentioned about David's nephew/Dale's son coming to the event. For me it started yesterday AM when I forwarded Harry's column to some family and friends, as that was the easiest way for me to explain where Paige and I would be, etc. next weekend. In twelve hours yesterday, that column about David went from me in CA, to ID to my cousin, to FL to his friend, back to ID and probably someone else in CA, and back to me. Seems that my cousin's college friend of many, now, years past, is the lad's grandfather and resided in Columbus for many years. Won't go into detail now, but it is just overwhelming to say the least. IF any of these 'involved folks drop in to visit the site and the message boards,' to you, I say 'WELCOME!' Please join the fun. It is truly just amazing. AND most definitely so wonderful to have Jason coming to the event. Nanc

Help, someone who is more knowledgeable than I am, we need that wonderful article that Harry McCawley had in yesterday's paper posted here to our website, don't you think? Richard? Someone? With such a glorious article we want it to remain forever in our archives I think.
p.s. I did manage to get the comments in today's paper but still need someone who can locate yesterday's. I didn't save it when Richard sent it to me because I had the paper. Oh and so everyone knows, I have mailed that article to David today, so he can keep it if he wants. Thought he might like to start, if he hasn't already, a scrapbook of his "clippings"! :-)
